You will provide specialist engineering capability and oversight on development projects while ensuring compliance with technical standards. The Engineering and Asset Management (E&AM) Team now have an exciting opportunity for a customer-focused technical and resilient individual to support the Technical Authority Manager. The Infrastructure Agreement governs the industry arrangements between ESB and EirGrid and specifically defines the role of the Technical Authority. The Technical Authority team within EirGrid is responsible for the following areas:
The successful candidate in the role of technical authority specialist will provide specialist engineering capability in support of the continued operation and development of the Transmission System. The successful candidate must be recognised as the renowned expert in their field externally and internally and able to influence at senior levels internally in EirGrid, ESB Networks and with Commission for Regulation of Utilities, Government Departments, State Agencies and at senior management levels in customers who are developing multi million euro projects.
This role can be based out of our Dublin or Cork offices.
The Engineering & Asset Management is responsible for undertaking four key roles: asset management, technical authority, onshore engineering and offshore engineering. The team is responsible for setting the technical engineering policies and standards to be used for transmission infrastructure, monitoring compliance during design and construction and for ensuring asset integrity and ensuring uninterrupted power system functionality. The Engineering and Asset Management is one of the areas within EirGrid which facilitates that role through the development of technical standards and functional specifications for all plant to be connected to the transmission system and the development of new and innovative technologies and methodologies. In addition, these areas are responsible for ensuring that EirGrid’s requirements are incorporated in project design and construction whether the works are carried out by ESB Networks or by third parties.
