Qualifications

  • Qualified Tax Professional or CA with PQE in tax, finance or compliance.
  • 3+ years of post-qualification experience focusing on indirect tax, compliance, or regulatory reporting.
  • Strong understanding of tax processes, statutory requirements and digital compliance frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure indirect tax returns are completed, reviewed, filed and paid on time.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and journal postings for indirect tax balances.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on tax queries across new supply chains and contracts.
  • Update ERP systems for new rates and revised reporting configurations.
  • Participate in rollout and testing of new e-invoicing mandates.
  • Support cross-functional AP, AR and Revenue teams to resolve compliance issues.
  • Maintain high service levels and strong relationships with GBS partners.
  • Oversee VAT issues log and provide updates to senior GBS management.

Job description

A great opportunity for a Tax Specialist to join an expanding international tax department. This essential role will collaborate closely with the company’s Global Business Services team based in Cork.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Compliance & Filing: Ensure all indirect tax returns are accurately completed, thoroughly reviewed, filed, and paid on time.
  • Financial Reconciliations: Perform periodic balance sheet reconciliations and handle journal postings for indirect tax balances.
  • Stakeholder Management: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to address tax-related queries concerning new supply chains, customer contracts, and tax audits.
  • Systems Maintenance: Implement updates within the ERP system for new or revised rates, as well as amended reporting configurations.
  • Digital Mandates: Participate in the rollout and testing of new electronic invoicing mandates.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Assist in resolving compliance issues within AP, AR, and Revenue functions to ensure seamless operations and minimal disruption.
  • Service Excellence: Maintain a culture of exceptional service, ensuring high responsiveness and strong relationship-building with internal and external GBS partners.
  • Issue Tracking: Oversee the VAT issues log, ensuring problems are prioritized, actioned, and resolved efficiently. Provide accurate updates to senior GBS management during monthly reviews.
  • Internal Controls: Maintain a robust internal control environment, strictly adhering to all relevant controls to minimize audit and SOX deficiencies.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Qualifications: Qualified Tax Professional, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent experience gained within a tax, finance, or compliance environment.
  • Experience: 3+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE), ideally focused on indirect tax, compliance, or regulatory reporting.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of tax processes, statutory requirements, and digital compliance frameworks (e.g., e-invoicing, real-time reporting).
  • Analytical Skills: Proven ability to interpret tax legislation, analyze complex data sets, and support the implementation of new compliance mandates.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills with a track record of collaborating effectively across cross-functional, global teams.
