Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is recruiting a Supervising Pharmacist for a busy Mitchelstown pharmacy in County Cork. The role ensures dispensing aligns with Irish legislation, with a focus on patient safety and quality.

The shift pattern covers Monday to Thursday, with a second pharmacist on Friday and Saturday, and the shop opens 9am–6pm Monday to Saturday. You will lead daily pharmacy administration, pharmacy quality reviews, patient counselling, and maintain compliance with PSI standards.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as the Supervising Pharmacist for the Pharmacy
  • Generating all relevant paper work and records and ensuring that they are kept up to date and stored in accordance with the relevant pharmacy legislation
  • Dispensing of prescription medicines for all customers
  • Performing a clinical, pharmaceutical and order entry quality review of all prescriptions to ensure their appropriateness for treatment
  • Performing an accuracy check on all prescriptions prior to them being prepared for dispensing to ensure that they are compliant with the relevant legislation
  • Liaising with Customer doctor to address any queries that might arise as a result of the clinical and pharmacy review and the accuracy check
  • Offering and providing patient counselling services to all patients receiving medicines
  • Set-up and maintenance of a Locum back-up to cover periods of holidays/absence
  • Participating in continuous professional development and maintenance of professional status and standards
  • Developing a culture of continuous quality improvement within the retail pharmacy business
  • Risk Management of the quality system and processes associated with the Pharmacy
  • Review of process change controls associated with the Pharmacy
  • Ensuring systems are in compliance with Regulatory requirements
  • Complying with all relevant standards, as applicable
  • Complying with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements
  • Ensuring the system and operation of the pharmacy is in operated line with regulatory requirements and that any employees or contract staff work in line with these requirements
  • Compliant and efficient running of the Retail Pharmacy, to meet business needs, and PSI requirements.
  • Identifying and taking corrective and preventive actions on the Pharmacy and related processes, to improve quality, compliance and patient safety.

About Your New Employer

A busy pharmacy located in Mitchelstown County Cork.



Working Monday to Thursday, the Supervising Pharmacists responsible for ensuring that all prescription drug dispensing is carried out in accordance with Irish Legislation and Guidelines issued by the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland. The Supervising Pharmacists is also responsible for the day to day administration associates with the dispensing.



Shop opens from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday. A second Pharmacist works Friday and Saturday, however some flexibility available and required. Working alongside 2 Pharmacy Technicians and 3 OTC Sales Assistants.



About Your New Job
