Assistant Manager / Supermac’s - Papa John’s

Overview

Supermac’s is excited to announce the opening of Supermac’s and Papa John’s Drive Thru in an existing Service Station in Sligo in spring 2026. This location is part of a Top Oil Forecourt and will bring our well‑known brands to the area. Job Purpose

The Assistant Manager provides ongoing support to the Store Manager to ensure that the outlet meets or exceeds the targets established for their unit. The Assistant Manager works as a team with training coordinators and staff at the unit level. The Assistant Manager reports to the Store Manager. Ongoing support and development is given by the Store Manager, and various management duties will be delegated as necessary. The Assistant Manager is fully responsible for the customers, staff, operations, and cash on his/her shift, and will be held accountable to ensure company policy is met in each area.

Supervisory
  • Supervise the activities of team members daily and ensure necessary tasks are completed to an appropriate level.

  • Provide quality products to our customers by ensuring each delivered product meets Supermac’s +/or Papa John’s standards and accurately reflects the customer’s order. Professionally and promptly respond to all customers’ concerns or issues.
  • Ensure the store is merchandised in a customer‑friendly and competitive manner, ensuring compliance with company procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensure housekeeping in the store is maintained at an optimum level.
  • Coordinate in‑store sales and promotions.
  • Communicate with team members regarding in‑store sales and promotions.
  • Ensure the appropriate cash register and cash handling policy is adhered to.
  • To react to local market trends and competition in an appropriate manner.
  • To ensure customers receive high‑quality and consistent service at all times.
  • To deal with and rectify customer complaints effectively and pleasantly.
  • To proactively take necessary action in store improvements following customer complaints.
Stock Management
  • To assist the manager in preparations for stock take and supervise where appropriate.
  • To assist the manager in minimising stock loss through wastage, damages, and pilferage.
  • Ensure that food management and waste systems are adhered to by team members.
  • Check stock to ensure adequate stock is available for customers’ needs.
  • Ensure stock is rotated appropriately to ensure in‑date stock is available and to minimise waste through out‑of‑date stock.
Legislation & Security
  • To ensure secure opening and closing procedures with the store manager.
  • To assist the manager as appropriate in matters relating to managing staff, ensuring compliance with Labour Law, HACCP, Health & Safety, and Consumer Legislation.
  • To ensure potential hazards in the store are identified and reduced, or where possible, removed/eliminated.
  • Work with the Store Manager to ensure Health & Safety checks are conducted and actioned accordingly.
Nature of the Job & Challenges
  • Maintaining strong quality control standards, working with the Store Manager to achieve sales and profits, through managing people of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Significant upgrading of management quality, skill level, and self‑sufficiency
  • Working with fellow management & staff to build positive interpersonal relationships and motivate with frequent personal contact.
  • Working with the Store Manager to drive turnover down at both the salaried manager and crew levels.

Work Environment

Fast‑paced, non‑stop environment. The role can be physically demanding at times due to the needs of the business, including customer volume, staffing levels, and overall preparedness. High business volumes may require prolonged periods of standing without the opportunity to sit down.
