Job summary

Anicare Vets Glasnevin is seeking a weekend Student Veterinary Nurse to join our busy first opinion small animal practice. This weekend role provides practical experience while you study, working Saturdays 9:00am–5:00pm and occasional hours during holidays or sickness cover.

You will support nursing and reception teams, help with day-to-day patient care, maintain hygiene standards, and gain exposure to the clinical and operational life of a busy veterinary clinic.

This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a friendly, close-knit veterinary practice where you'll gain exposure to the day-to-day running of a busy first opinion small animal clinic while working alongside experienced Veterinary Surgeons, Veterinary Nurses and Receptionists.

Anicare Glasnevin offers a welcoming community practice environment where relationships matter. You'll work closely with a team of three Veterinary Surgeons, three to four Veterinary Nurses and an experienced reception team, giving you the opportunity to learn from a variety of professionals while contributing to the care of our patients and clients.

A Role That Fits Around Your Studies

This position is ideal for a Student Veterinary Nurse seeking practical experience while balancing college commitments.

The role is based on Saturdays from 9:00am to 5:00pm, providing a regular weekly opportunity to develop your skills within a veterinary practice environment. Additional hours may occasionally be available during study breaks, college holidays and periods of annual leave or sickness cover, offering further opportunities to gain experience and increase your exposure to life in practice.

Build Your Skills in a Busy Veterinary Practice

This is a varied and rewarding support role where no two days are the same. You'll play an important part in helping the clinic run smoothly, supporting both our front-of-house and clinical teams while ensuring our patients receive the highest standard of care.

Working across different areas of the clinic, you'll help create a positive experience for clients and their pets from the moment they arrive. You'll also assist the nursing team with day-to-day non-clinical patient care, maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout the practice, and provide practical support wherever it is needed.

For students looking to develop a deeper understanding of veterinary practice, this role offers valuable insight into both the clinical and operational aspects of delivering excellent veterinary care.

Learn, Develop and Gain Real Practice Experience

As part of your role, you'll support the reception team in creating a welcoming and professional environment for clients while helping to keep the day running efficiently. You'll gain experience observing the flow of appointments, interacting with clients and understanding the wider patient journey within a veterinary setting.

Behind the scenes, you'll work closely with the nursing team by assisting with the preparation and organisation of clinical areas, helping maintain treatment rooms and kennel spaces, and supporting the overall care and wellbeing of patients during their time in the practice. You'll also contribute to maintaining exceptionally high standards of hygiene, infection control and organisation throughout the clinic.

The role is designed to provide meaningful exposure to life within a first opinion practice while allowing you to build confidence, develop professional skills and gain experience that complements your veterinary nursing studies.
