Job summary

Walls Construction in Ireland invites applications for a Student Engineer. You will assist with day-to-day engineering tasks on site while progressing toward NFQ Level 7 in engineering. This role focuses on surveying and setting-out under supervision, building practical skills.

Duties include as-built surveys, concrete cube tests, recording drawings and diaries, and reporting issues to Site/Senior Engineer. Aiming to develop to responsibility and long-term career within Walls Construction.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a college course toward NFQ Level 7 or higher in engineering.
• Willing to assist with surveying, setting-out, and quality activities on site.
• Interest in getting hands-on experience under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with surveying and setting-out activities.
• Completing as-built surveys and maintaining records.
• Making concrete cubes, slump tests, and updating the cube register.
• Updating concrete pour charts.
• Completing pre- and post-pour checks.
• Carrying out quality checks on internal and external works.
• Inspecting and recording firestopping works.
• Updating the drawing register and reviewing drawings for changes.
• Completing the daily site diary.
• Recording labour, plant, and other resources on site.
• Reporting any discrepancies, defects, or issues to the Site Engineer or Senior Engineer.

Please note that this role is only suitable for students who are currently enrolled in a college course and working towards an NFQ Level 7 qualification or higher in an engineering-related discipline.

Student Engineer

We are seeking enthusiastic Student Engineers, who are working towards a NFQ Level 7 or above in an engineering related discipline to join our team. Student Engineers will assist Site Engineer or Senior Engineer with day-to-day engineering and quality activities on site. Initially, they assist with surveying and setting-out tasks, gradually developing the knowledge and confidence to carry out setting-out independently under appropriate supervision.

Duties

• Assisting with surveying and setting-out activities.
• Completing as-built surveys and maintaining accurate records.
• Making concrete cubes, carrying out slump tests, and updating the cube register.
• Updating concrete pour charts.
• Completing pre- and post-pour checks.
• Carrying out quality checks on internal and external works.
• Inspecting and recording firestopping works.
• Updating the drawing register and reviewing new/revised drawings for changes.
• Completing the daily site diary.
• Recording labour, plant, and other resources on site.
• Reporting any discrepancies, defects, or issues to the Site Engineer or Senior Engineer.
