Job summary

Cronin Buckley Fabrication & Construction Limited in Kilumney, Ovens, Ireland, is seeking a skilled painter/coater to join our fabrications team. This full-time role offers 39 hours per week, focusing on surface preparation, coating application, and material mixing to meet project specs.

You will operate shot blasting, spray equipment, and related tools, maintain PPE and safety practices, and perform quality checks to ensure uniform finishes across components.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience in surface preparation, coating application and mixing materials.
• Ability to use and maintain painting and surface preparation equipment safely and effectively.
• Good knowledge of PPE, respiratory protection and workplace health and safety procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical specifications and work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Surface Preparation: Clean steel surfaces by operating shot blasting, grinding, sanding, or scraping to remove rust, mill scale, dirt, and oil.
• Coating Application: Apply primers, anti-corrosive layers, and protective finish coats using airless sprayers, conventional spray equipment, rollers, and brushes.
• Mixing Materials: Measure and mix multi-part paints, thinners, and coatings according to strict manufacturer and project specifications.
• Quality Control: Check coating thickness using specialized gauges and inspect surfaces for runs, drips, or dry spots to ensure uniform coverage.
• Equipment Maintenance: Clean, flush, and perform routine maintenance on spray guns, hoses, pots, and rigging tools after use.
• Safety & Compliance: Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), follow respiratory safety rules.
