The Role

The Structural Sales Engineer will develop estimation tools and administer cost estimates for projects utilizing Tate products as well as cost estimates for new products via prototyping and manufacturing analysis. The Sales engineer will coordinate with the sales team and other outside customers to clarify design requirements, develop product solutions to fit design requirements, develop an initial bill of material with cost data, and communicate the overall scope of work to the Sales representative.

What You’ll Do
  • Act as the primary structural engineering interface with clients, consultants, and internal commercial teams during pre‑contract and early project phases.
  • Lead technical clarification meetings, design workshops, and site or factory visits (e.g., warehouse/showroom tours) to support solution understanding.
  • Translate client briefs, specifications, and performance requirements into a clear technical scope for internal and external design teams.
  • Drive the structural design strategy for bids and early‑stage projects, ensuring alignment with Data Center requirements and constructability.
  • Coordinate and manage internal designers and external consultants (structural / mechanical interfaces), ensuring outputs meet scope, timelines, and quality expectations.
  • Lead and compile technical submissions, design narratives, and supporting documentation for client approvals.
  • Ensure all documents are issued on time, technically coherent, and aligned with the commercial offer.
  • Work closely with the Commercial team to support pricing assumptions, quantities, and scope clarifications (without owning final commercial negotiations).
  • Contribute technical input to estimates.
  • Support the handover to Project Management once a Purchase Order is received, ensuring scope clarity and technical continuity into execution.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on technical content, client presentations, and product positioning where needed.
  • Maintain strong internal alignment across Engineering, Commercial, Operations, and Project teams.
  • Support R&D and product teams by providing feedback trends from clients, consultants, and the Data Center market.
  • The role requires approximately 50% international travel, primarily Middle East and Europe, and it’s an office‑based role with close collaboration across teams.
  • Facilitate communication among the sales team, clients/customers and engineers, ensuring specifications, budgets, and deadlines are clearly communicated and understood.
  • Evaluate construction drawings and specifications to provide product recommendations that meet project requirements.
  • Interpret project needs from Sales Managers and communicate feasibility, lead times, and potential challenges.
  • Create quotes for new design and maintain design history throughout the quoting process.
  • Provide application engineering support for existing and future products designed to support the Mission Critical/Data Center space and containment solutions.
  • Maintain knowledge of new trends, developments, technologies, materials, and best practices; apply this knowledge to continually improve product lines and production efficiency.
  • Identify trends in Data Center design and help guide R&D in the development of new products to respond to market requirements.
  • Attend Data Center tradeshows and conferences.
Additional Expectations
  • Remain compliant with the Code of Conduct and Policies which includes the Kingspan Group Compliance Policy.
  • Ensure that all duties related to product compliance are adhered to in accordance with the Product Compliance Policy, laws, regulations, and market demands.
  • Be responsible for all tasks to achieve compliance goals and demands of the Compliance Management System.
  • Must raise concerns related to the Compliance Management System to their supervisor, manager, or any member of the Leadership Team, or through the confidential whistle‑blower service.
