Role: Stores Person – Food Industry

Location: Athenry

Job Type: Permanent - Full time

Salary: €16.50 – €18.50 per hour depending on experience

At Elk Recruitment, we are looking for a Stores Supervisor to work for our client based in Co. Galway. You will coordinate with multiple departments to ensure inventory accuracy, implement best practices in stock management, and adhere to safety regulations. This position requires a hands‑on approach to problem‑solving, exceptional organisational skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.

Your new role includes:
  • Oversee the receipt, storage, and internal movement of ambient, chilled, and frozen stock
  • Ensure all materials and products are stored correctly, rotated in line with FIFO principles, and fully traceable
  • Provide production support by guaranteeing timely availability of packaging, ingredients, and finished goods
  • Safely operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment in accordance with company procedures
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, completing all required documentation and system updates
  • Inspect incoming deliveries for accuracy, damage, or discrepancies and report any issues without delay
  • Adhere at all times to HACCP, food safety, hygiene, and company standards
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organization across all storage and support areas
  • Assist with audits and inspections by ensuring records and processes are compliant and up to date
  • Proactively identify and suggest improvements to enhance organization and operational efficiency within stores operations
Experience you need:
  • Previous experience in a warehouse or goods intake role, preferably within a food manufacturing or production setting
  • Proven experience working with computerized warehouse management or stock control systems
  • Hold a valid forklift license (mandatory)
  • Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP requirements
  • Strong organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing and prioritizing multiple tasks
