Job summary

St James's Hospital in Dublin is seeking a Candidate Clinical Nurse Specialist (cCNS) in Stoma Care. The role requires registration with NMBI, 1 year post-registration experience, and demonstrated expertise in stoma care; QQI Level 9 or equivalent is required or obtainable through the CNS pathway.

CPD development and teaching duties are included within the role. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care and progress to the CNS/CMS

Qualifications

• Be a registered nurse/midwife on the active Register of Nurses and Midwives or eligible to be registered.
• Be registered in the division(s) of the NMBI Register for which the application is made.
• Have a minimum of 1 year post-registration full-time experience in the division and in the specialist area of Stoma Care within the last 3 years.
• Have completed a post-registration programme verifiable by QQI NFQ Level 9 (60 ECTS) relevant to the specialist area, or provide evidence of equivalent Level 9 qualification.
• Be committed to CPD and continuing professional development.
• Have the ability to practice safely and professionally within their scope of practice.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specialist nursing care in line with the NCNM framework and national policies.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide patient-centred care.
• Support progression to the CNS/CMS pathway and progression to the Interim CNS/CMS database.
• Teach and assess Nursing and Health Care Assistant staff.
• Aspire to advance to the Registered Clinical Nurse Specialist grade within 2 years.
