Abbott Ireland Diabetes Care Division Donegal is seeking a data analytics professional to independently mine large datasets and provide real-time analysis for manufacturing processes.

The role focuses on interpreting statistical findings into actionable business insights, consulting on analytics tools, supporting investigations, and helping reduce measurement variability through experiments and design of experiments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in a quantitative field (Math/Data Science/Statistics, etc.).
• Minimum of 4 years in a similar role.
• Proficient in Python, R, SAS, JMP or similar.
• Understanding of probability, SPC, hypothesis testing, time series and regression.
• Experience with relational databases (Oracle/MySQL/Access).

• Independently data mine multiple large, complex datasets to answer research questions.
• Provide real-time data analysis support to manufacturing for process adjustments, material performance, investigations, and yield analysis.
• Strategically interpret statistical findings into a business context that matters.
• Offer consulting on data analysis and statistical tools for trend analysis, root cause analysis and data visualization.
• Support technical investigations within the manufacturing unit.
• Assist with introduction of analytical test methods and design of experiments to reduce variability.
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers to input design of experiments and analyze results.
• Lead multiple projects with stakeholders to define questions, timelines and objectives.
• Present statistical results clearly to diverse levels of personnel.

The Abbott Diabetes Care division based in Donegal Town manufactures FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre system.

Job Specification

• Ability to independently data mine multiple large, complex datasets to answer specific research / investigation questions. Curiosity to dig deeper and access other documentation sources to understand the data.
• Provide real time data analysis support to manufacturing in terms of process adjustments, material performance, investigations, programming and yield analysis.
• The ability to strategically interpret statistical findings into a business significant context.
• Provide consulting on data analysis and statistical tools in support of trend analysis, root cause analysis, failure investigation, risk assessment, data management and data visualization to junior team members and engineers.
• Support technical investigations performed within the manufacturing unit.
• Assist with the introduction of analytical test methods & development trials (analysis of variance, setting acceptance criteria & capability analysis) and support efforts to reduce measurement variability.
• Work with scientists and engineers to introduce new machines, materials and processes, inputting into the design of experiments and analysis of resultant data.
• Independently manages multiple projects working with stakeholders to define business questions, timelines and objectives.
• Highly effective in presenting and communicating statistical results to various levels of personnel is required regularly.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in a quantitative field (i.e. Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Statistics, Biostatistics etc.) preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years experience in a similar role.
• Proficient in a programming language such as python, R, SAS, JMP or similar.
• An understanding of probability, statistical process control, hypothesis testing, non-parametric statistics, time series analysis, linear and logistic regression etc.
• Experience with relational databases (for example: Oracle Databases, MySQL, Microsoft Access, etc.).
