Job summary

Toast is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to serve as the technical lead for the Intelligence Platform. You will establish architecture on Toast's data lake, shape data processing, privacy and serving, and collaborate with Legal, Data Science, Marketing and Product teams.

Hands-on work with Kotlin/Java, Spark, and Iceberg will drive the platform’s pattern and quality. You will move the platform from first-version publications to real-time access for AI agents, crafting reusable blocks and

Qualifications

Proven experience delivering data-intensive platforms.
Ability to design scalable data architectures for multiple teams.
Strong SQL and data modeling skills for large datasets.
Proficiency in Java or Kotlin for production systems.

Responsibilities

Own the technical vision and end-to-end architecture of the Intelligence Platform.
Lead design and code reviews across multiple teams and stakeholders.
Build privacy/compliance into the platform from the start.
Ship early data products and iterate based on feedback.
Mentor engineers and set reliability and quality standards.
