Job summary

A community service provider in Dublin is seeking a Staff Nurse to support adults with intellectual disabilities in Day Services. Responsibilities include providing care through a Person Centred Planning Approach and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams. St. John of God Dublin South East Services provides a network of education, training, employment, respite and community living personnel supports to children and adults with intellectual disabilities in South Dublin.

Staff Nurse

Permanent Full-Time

We are seeking to employ Staff Nurses to support the continued provision and development of dynamic, meaningful, person-centred opportunities for adults with intellectual disabilities in our Day Services.

Suitable candidates must:
  • Be on the current register as maintained by An Bord Altranais / NMBI
  • Experience working with Individuals with Intellectual disabilities.
  • Have an excellent understanding/ knowledge of the health, communication and positive behavioural supports associated with the role.
  • Experience working with Multi-Disciplinary Teams (i.e.) Psychology, Speech and language, physiotherapy, occupational therapy etc.
  • Commitment to deliver all aspects of care and support through a Person Centred Planning Approach
  • Demonstrate a commitment to support decision making and promoting the rights of people with disabilities.Awareness of the New Directions standards for Day Services.
  • Full manual driving licence (willingness to drive as part of role is essential). We may consider candidates who are planning or in the process of obtaining a full manual licence.
  • Willingness to assist in the support and appraisal of training and education of non-nursing staff in medication administration, Enteral Feed Tube Feeding, Diabetes and Epilepsy Management.
Desirable:
  • RNID qualification preferable
