RecruitNet International Ltd, a healthcare recruitment specialist in Ireland, is hiring a Staff Nurse - Cardiology for our hospital in Limerick. The role is full-time (30 hours per week) and permanent, with responsibilities across pre-, intra-, and post-procedural care in interventional cardiology.

The ideal candidate is registered or eligible with NMBI, has 1–2 years of clinical nursing experience (cardiology preferred), and can work in a fast-paced cath lab environment.

Qualifications

• Be registered, or eligible for registration, in the General Nurse Division of the NMBI Register.
• Have 1–2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably within cardiology or an acute care setting.
• Previous experience in a Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory (Cath Lab) or interventional cardiology is desirable.
• Demonstrate knowledge of current practices, developments, and best standards in interventional cardiology nursing.
• Experience in monitoring and managing patients undergoing invasive cardiology procedures is desirable.
• Demonstrate the ability to provide safe, effective, and patient-centred care in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Previous experience using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, hands-on, patient-centred nursing care to patients undergoing interventional cardiology procedures.
• Prepare patients for procedures by completing pre-procedure assessments, explaining the planned treatment, addressing concerns, and ensuring patients are appropriately informed and supported.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures, including vital signs and clinical status, escalating changes to the CNM or Consultant.
• Assist with preparation and management of the catheterisation laboratory, equipment, and supplies, ensuring sterilisation and infection prevention.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to promote effective communication and positive patient outcomes.
• Maintain accountability for own clinical practice in line with NMBI standards and HIQA/JCI requirements.
• Support continuous quality improvement and comply with national and local quality and safety standards.

Prepare patients for procedures by completing pre-procedure assessments, explaining the planned treatment, addressing concerns, and ensuring patients are appropriately informed and supported.

Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures, including vital signs and clinical status, promptly identifying and escalating any changes or complications to the CNM or Consultant.

Assist with the preparation and management of the catheterisation laboratory, equipment, and supplies, ensuring appropriate sterilisation, infection prevention, and readiness for procedures.

Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to promote effective communication, coordinated care, and positive patient outcomes and experiences.

Maintain accountability for own clinical practice in accordance with NMBI standards, continuously developing professional knowledge, competence, and scope of practice.

Maintain awareness of and comply with relevant national, professional, and local quality and safety standards, including HIQA and JCI requirements, while supporting continuous quality improvement.

Requirements
