Job summary

Crusoe is seeking a Staff Network Production Engineer, Network Ops to join the Network Operations team. You’ll implement and operate the global edge, backbone, and data center network for HPC clusters with GPUs, ensuring security and scalability. You will provide 24/7 monitoring and rapid incident response, helping Crusoe stay highly available.

The role requires leadership, hands-on expertise, and strong communication. You’ll mentor engineers and collaborate across teams to meet business goals.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of production network experience.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, QoS, BGP, OSPF/IS-IS, EVPN, VXLAN.
• Experience with monitoring tools and telemetry.
• Hands-on with major network devices (Mellanox, Cisco, Arista, Juniper).
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.

About the Role:

Crusoe Cloud Network Engineering team is actively looking for an ambitious, experienced Staff Network Production Engineer, Network Ops to join our Network Operations team. The Staff Network Production Engineer, Network Ops will implement and operate the global edge, backbone, and data center network for high-performance compute (HPC) clusters with GPUs. The ideal individual will be highly motivated, hands‑on, self‑directed, and desire to work on cutting‑edge technologies related to the environment. You must possess excellent analytical and communication skills, be a great team player and deal with ambiguity.

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation, security, and scalability of our global network infrastructure. You will help the network engineers and specialists implement and manage network solutions supporting Crusoe Cloud. In this key position, you will also provide 24/7 monitoring and management of our network infrastructure. This will ensure continuous operational coverage, rapid incident response, and high availability of network services to meet the demands of our customers.

What You’ll Be Working On

• Monitor network performance and perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for incidents, guiding post‑mortem reviews and improvements.
• Execute network changes across datacenters, backbone and edge infrastructure to implement next‑generation designs, scale capacity and improve network reliability.
• Manage, optimize and address immediate needs vs long‑term goals for the entire Crusoe network (frontend, backend, backbone, edge, public cloud connectivity)
• Collaborate within Network Engineering and with cross‑functional teams and departments to ensure network meets business needs
• Lead operational excellence initiatives—developing monitoring, alerting and systems to ensure high network availability.
• Mentor network engineers and establish best practices for incident response, documentation and operational readiness.
• Manage vendor relationships & contracts related to network services and equipment.
• Provide visibility into network health through the delivery of detailed metrics, event statistics, and performance analysis
• Be part of a 24/7 Oncall Support for the Crusoe Network.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

• 10+ years of related experience operating at scale in a production environment
• Strong knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, QoS, BGP, OSPF/IS‑IS, EVPN, VXLAN and MPLS‑related technologies like RSVP‑TE, LDP, etc.
• Strong understanding of network monitoring protocols and tools like SNMP, IPFIX, Sflow/netflow, and Telemetry.
• Familiarity with data center, backbone and edge network architecture and implementations
• Experience with scripting, coding or programming — Python or similar languages — to automate operational tasks and build tooling to operate efficiently at scale.
• Hands‑on experience with major network devices like Mellanox, Cisco, Arista, Juniper, and other mainstream vendors.
• Familiarity with mainstream commercial switch/router chipsets, such as Broadcom, Barefoot, etc.
• Knowledge of public cloud architecture connectivity options to AWS, GCP, Azure, Ali Cloud, OCI, etc.
• Good understanding of IPv6 and IPv4‑IPv6 coexistence technologies.
• Experience with network observability, flow analytics, dashboarding tools like NSG, Kentik, Grafana, Arbor, Thousandeyes, Catchpoint, packet design etc
• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree based on three or more years of work experience

Bonus Points

• Familiarity with BackEnd technologies like Infiniband (IB) / RoCE / Spectrum‑X will be a plus.
