Job summary

Stripe is seeking a senior architect to lead the Datalake platform, driving a multi-year migration to Apache Iceberg and OSS-aligned solutions. You will own the metastore, API contracts, and per-table credentialing across Spark, Trino, Flink, and PyIceberg, shaping access models and data governance at scale.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience in distributed data infrastructure.
• Proven track record designing, building, and operating large-scale storage systems.
• Deep experience with object storage IAM, access control design, and lifecycle management.
• Ability to lead multi-quarter, cross-team migrations end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Architect the unified Iceberg platform, defining API contracts and per-table credential vending across Spark, Trino, Flink, and PyIceberg.
• Own the metastore migration strategy and coordinate Hive Metastore-backed workloads to the new platform.
• Shape the object storage abstraction layer with access control, lifecycle programs, and ergonomic developer libraries.
• Lead compliance architecture with security teams to translate regulatory requirements into durable controls.
• Drive cost efficiency at petabyte scale with self-service tooling and scalable data lifecycle management.
• Set technical standards and mentor engineers through high-stakes architectural decisions.
