Eir evo talent has partnered with a Dublin based public sector client. We’re looking for a SQL Specialist to join a forward-thinking technology team supporting large-scale public sector systems. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving tough database challenges — from performance tuning and security hardening to shaping how data flows across cloud and hybrid platforms. This is a day rate contract opportunity, initially for 6 months with extensions. You will be required to attend the office 3 times per week – Dublin based.

Responsibilities

What you’ll do You’ll work closely with infrastructure and security teams to:

• Review and optimise Microsoft SQL Server environments, both on-premise and in Azure.
• Help design and implement resilient database solutions that support mission-critical services.
• Define best practices for performance, scalability, and data protection.
• Support knowledge transfer and guide local IT teams in adopting improved data management methods.

Requirements

• Deep experience with SQL Server and Azure SQL platforms.
• Understanding of database performance, availability, replication, and security.
• Familiarity with frameworks like Microsoft’s Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and Well-Architected Framework (WAF).
• Proven success delivering data-focused projects in enterprise or public-sector environments.
• A collaborative mindset — you know how to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical teams.
