The Role

BMS Cruiserath Biologics is seeking to recruit a permanent Specialist, Reliability Technician – GMP Maintenance (Days).

Position Summary

The Reliability Technician is a permanent, hands‑on technical role within the GMP Maintenance Days Team, responsible for the safe, compliant and effective maintenance of GMP manufacturing equipment and associated systems.

The role executes planned and unplanned maintenance activities, including preventative and predictive maintenance, calibration support and equipment troubleshooting. A key focus is maintaining equipment reliability, ensuring high‑quality maintenance execution and supporting the continued safe and compliant operation of the manufacturing facility.

The Reliability Technician works collaboratively with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Maintenance Planning and specialist vendors to resolve equipment issues, improve maintenance strategies and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Execute preventative, predictive, corrective and condition‑based maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment faults across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, automation and utility systems within individual competency levels.
  • Respond to equipment failures and support the safe and timely return of equipment to service.
  • Perform or support calibration and other maintenance interventions as required.
  • Support planned shutdowns, outages, major maintenance activities and equipment overhauls.
Safety, Quality & GMP Compliance
  • Perform all maintenance activities in accordance with applicable EHS, GMP and site requirements.
  • Follow relevant safe systems of work, including LOTO and permit‑to‑work requirements.
  • Complete maintenance activities and documentation in accordance with approved procedures and Good Documentation Practices.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, training compliance and audit readiness.
  • Support audits, inspections, deviation investigations, CAPAs and change controls where required.
Reliability & Work Management
  • Complete assigned work orders safely, compliantly and to the required quality and schedule.
  • Record maintenance interventions, failure information and asset history accurately within the CMMS.
  • Identify and elevate recurring equipment issues and emerging reliability risks.
  • Support root cause investigations and implementation of appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
  • Provide practical input into maintenance strategies, job plans, PM optimisation and spare‑parts strategies.
  • Work closely with Maintenance Planning, Reliability Engineering and Manufacturing to coordinate and prioritise maintenance activities.
Continuous Improvement & Teamwork
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance effectiveness and ways of working.
  • Participate in Operational Excellence and cross‑functional improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of SOPs, maintenance procedures and job plans.
  • Support the introduction and effective use of maintenance tools, technologies and best practices.
  • Provide clear written and verbal handovers when required.
  • Share technical knowledge and support the training and development of colleagues.
  • Collaborate effectively with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering and external service providers.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum Level 6 qualification in Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical or a relevant related technical/engineering discipline, or equivalent technical competence demonstrated through substantial relevant maintenance/engineering experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • 2–4 years' experience in a maintenance or relevant engineering role within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving capability.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively both independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to procedural compliance and high‑quality maintenance documentation.
Desirable
  • Trade qualification or additional relevant technical certification.
  • Experience within biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, medical device or another regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using a CMMS such as Maximo.
  • Experience with preventative or predictive maintenance, calibration or condition‑based maintenance techniques.
  • Experience supporting equipment investigations, root cause analysis or reliability improvement activities.
