Job summary

Dell Technologies’ Global Test Engineering Cork team is seeking a Software Principal Engineer to architect, design, and build advanced software systems for manufacturing test automation across AI server and storage products. You’ll influence the entire lifecycle from requirements to delivery, and partner with product and manufacturing teams to accelerate time-to-market.

You will lead a highly capable Agile team, promote excellence, and explore Agentic AI to streamline workflows in high-volume

Qualifications

• 6-8 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of software engineering fundamentals.
• Experience designing, coding, and debugging complex, scalable systems.
• Exposure to multiple programming languages, operating systems, databases, tools, and hardware platforms.
• Understanding of system, network, operating system, and application-level interactions.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new tools, technologies, and platforms.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in a cross-functional environment.

Global Test Engineering (GTE)

The Global Test Engineering (GTE) team develops advanced manufacturing test automation solutions for Dell's portfolio of AI Server and Storage products.
Over the next 2-3 years, we are transforming AI rack-level testing into an AI-driven, highly scalable, and secure platform, dramatically accelerating time-to-market for industry-leading AI infrastructure that powers the world's most pioneering AI companies.

What You’ll Achieve

As a Software Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for architecting, designing, and developing sophisticated software systems aligned with Dell's manufacturing, product, and business requirements.

Essential Requirements

• 6-8 years of relevant software engineering experience
• Strong knowledge of software engineering fundamentals, including programming languages, operating systems, and system-level concepts
• Experience designing, coding, and debugging complex, scalable systems, with the ability to guide and mentor other engineers
• Exposure to multiple programming languages, operating systems, databases, tools, and hardware platforms
• Understanding of system, network, operating system, and application-level interactions
• Demonstrated ability to learn new tools, technologies, and platforms through a combination of training and hands-on experience
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in a cross-functional environment

Desirable Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Experience with manufacturing, test automation, embedded systems, firmware, BIOS, or device-level software (highly beneficial)
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development or automation workflows is a plus
