Job summary

Workday Ireland is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Product Engineering to help build and maintain the APIs and backend services that power Workday products and agentic experiences. You will work with TypeScript and Python, using OpenAPI/Swagger to define and govern APIs.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams across time zones to design scalable, resilient systems, implement robust API behaviors, and contribute tests and documentation to ensure high quality software delivery.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience building scalable backend services or platforms.
3+ years of experience with TypeScript or Python.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain product APIs and backend services.
Implement robust API behaviors including routing, validation, authentication/authorization, transformation, and error handling.
Contribute to high-throughput, low-latency components with emphasis on resiliency and scalability.
Apply API governance using OpenAPI/Swagger and internal standards.
Write unit, integration, and contract tests and participate in design reviews.
