Sony Interactive Entertainment is seeking a Software Engineer II focused on kernel security for PlayStation systems. You will build, maintain, and enhance kernel security features while collaborating with multiple teams to drive security improvements.

You will diagnose and resolve complex kernel security issues, analyze threats, and contribute to open-source projects. A strong C background and autonomous, collaborative work style are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

• Experience with kernel development; FreeBSD knowledge is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer II - Kernel Security, your responsibilities will include:

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in C programming languages, other programming language like C++ is a plus.
• Experience with kernel development, freeBSD knowledge is a plus.
• Knowledge in kernel security concepts and practices.
• Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git and GitHub.
• Excellent debugging skills and problem-solving abilities.
• The ability to work autonomously and within a cooperative group.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of operating systems and low-level programming.
• Experience contributing to widely recognized open-source projects.
• Effective communication abilities and the capability to clearly explain intricate technical ideas.
• A strong passion for gaming and knowledge of the gaming industry.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

In addition, this role is eligible for SIE’s top-tier benefits package that includes paid time off, wellness program and coveted employee discounts for Sony products. This role also may be eligible for a bonus package.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

€69.500—€104.300 EUR
