Amazon Development Centre Ireland Limited in Dublin is seeking skilled software engineers to join a team building scalable network services for SDN and self-managed networks. You'll design and own services that automate configuration lifecycle and support large-scale cloud infrastructure.
The role offers exposure to hyperscale data centers, distributed systems, and SOA, with opportunities for growth, collaboration across AWS, and a culture that values learning and innovation.
At Amazon Web Services (AWS), we run one of the largest networks in the world supporting the AWS Cloud globally. In order to manage this unimaginable scale, we are driving revolutionary changes to the way networks are conceived, designed, built and operated. We put services and algorithms in place to control and manage all layers of the Amazon network, from top of the rack switches (TORs) to our internet and private backbone facing routers. This software ecosystem must be intelligent, scalable and fault tolerant. Our vision is to ultimately have self‑managed networks and our Network Lifecycle Management (NLM) organization is responsible for building key services that will enable this vision.
We are establishing a team of engineers that would build a set of foundational network services that form a core part of our Software Defined Networking (SDN) ecosystem. The main focus of the team will be to design and own a closed‑loop system for the network link validation, remediation and recovery business. This platform is vital for ensuring link health and a crucial step towards our vision of a truly self‑managed and adaptive network.
We are looking for smart, talented software engineers who want to get hands‑on experience with fully automated hyperscale data centre networks, cloud infrastructure, large‑scale software deployments, algorithms, distributed systems and service‑oriented architectures (SOA). This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced and new Software Development Engineers wanting to solve some of the hard problems associated with config generation, modeling and storage at scale. No prior Networking experience required. In fact, we are looking for members with strong software services background to spearhead development of highly reliable scalable services.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centres and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
You will work on systems that operate at massive global scale, solving complex problems in networking, distributed systems, and real‑time traffic engineering. You will analyze network telemetry data to find and fix performance bottlenecks, ship improvements to packet processing pipelines, and collaborate with teams across AWS to influence how content is delivered, secured, and optimized across the internet.
We are a diverse team committed to delivering high-quality solutions at scale.
AWS values diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage candidates to apply.
