Social Worker

Medforce is delighted to partner with a progressive Young Adult Mental Health Service (YAMHS) in Laois to recruit Professionally Qualified and Senior Social Workers. This is an exciting opportunity to support young people between the ages of 16 and 18 experiencing complex mental health challenges during a crucial period in their lives.

About the Role

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing psychosocial assessments, evidence-based interventions, and care coordination for young adults navigating the transition to adulthood while managing mental health needs. You will work closely with service users, families, and community supports to deliver person-centred, recovery-oriented care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct needs assessments and develop tailored care plans
  • Deliver one-to-one therapeutic interventions and crisis support
  • Work collaboratively with psychiatric, psychological, and occupational therapy colleagues
  • Liaise with families, GPs, education providers, and housing/employment services
  • (Senior role) Supervise junior social workers and students
  • (Senior role) Lead on service planning, development, and clinical governance
Requirements for the Social Worker

PQSW:

  • Recognised Social Work qualification and CORU registration
  • Experience in mental health, youth, or community settings (placement or post-qual)
  • Excellent interpersonal and team-working skills
Senior Social Worker
  • At least 3 years’ post-qualification experience (ideally in mental health)
  • Proven ability to manage complex caseloads and contribute to service development
  • Experience in supervision and inter-agency collaboration
