Job summary

Cpl Healthcare in Dublin is seeking Social Care Workers to join a new Tusla service delivering a trauma-informed model of care for young people aged 13 to 17. The role focuses on building positive attachments and creating a therapeutic environment through strong relationship building.

You will work as part of a team to provide holistic care, with responsibilities ranging from care planning and recording to school attendance and liaising with families and other agencies.

Qualifications

• Be registered in the Social Care Workers Register maintained by CORU.
• Hold a CORU approved Social Care Worker qualification and have applied for CORU registration.
• Be eligible for registration in the CORU Social Care Workers Register.
• Demonstrate high suitability and ability for proper discharge of duties.

Responsibilities

• Participate in developing and implementing Care and Placement Plans and record them.
• Promote the rights and responsibilities of each child/young person within the service.
• Support the welfare, education attendance, medical and clinical appointments.
• Organise personal documents, arrangements, information and finances for the young person.
• Attend team meetings and report progress to the Social Care Leader/Manager.

Social Care Worker job in Dublin.

This is an exciting opportunity for Social Care Workers to join a new Tusla service in Dublin which will deliver a trauma-informed model of care for young people aged between 13 & 17 years of age.The team will encourage the development of positive attachments through relationship building with the overall goal of providing a therapeutic environment for children and young people. There will be a strong emphasis on engaging the young people in the programme and on building rapport in support of developing relationships.

You will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of Social Care professionals to deliver robust, holistic, trauma-informed care to the young people.

The Social Care Worker will have responsibility for working with Children and Young People, household activities, administration, teamwork, professional development, health and safety.

Job Overview:

• Participate in the development and implementation of Care and Placement Plans and to ensure appropriate recording of same.
• Promote the rights and responsibilities of each child/young person within the Service.
• Promote physical, emotional, social and religious welfare of each young person in care.
• Encourage attendance at school, training centres, medical and clinical appointments.
• Responsible for the organisation of personal documents, arrangements, information, and finance on behalf of the young person.
• Liaise with the parent, family, general services, and other agencies on behalf of the young person.
• Attend meetings in relation to the care and developments of the young person.
• Engage in age-appropriate play and other activities with each child/young person within the Service.
• Engage in physical intervention where this is in keeping with local policies and procedures.
• Promote the participation of children and young people in decision making on issues that affect their lives at both individual and collective levels.
• Prepare and provide, in conjunction with the young people, well balanced meals of high quality.
• To undertake various aspects of home management including the household budget, upkeep and cleaning
• Attend team meetings and to report to the Social Care Leader / Manager on matters affecting the delivery of service.
• Make written and verbal reports to the Social Care Leader / Manager on a regular basis on the progress of development of the young person.
• Ensure Child protection procedures are followed in accordance with the responsibilities of a designated officer.
• To keep abreast of current legislation and current professional childcare knowledge.
• Undertake ongoing professional training and development.
• Comply with and contribute to the development of policies, procedures, guidelines and safe professional practice and adhere to relevant legislation, regulations and standards.
• Have a working knowledge of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA)

Job Requirements:

• Be registered in the Social Care Workers Register maintained by the Social Care Workers Registration Board maintained by CORU.
