Job summary

Nitro is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the CIAM team, focused on identity and access management and customer journey stages across sign-up, purchase, and subscriptions.

You will contribute to a scalable Java/Scala backend, strengthen security and resiliency, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive product adoption and revenue while keeping code quality high.

Qualifications

• Strong architectural thinking and ability to balance immediate needs with long-term sustainability.
• Experience with a JVM language; Scala is a plus.
• Experience building SaaS products, especially in AWS cloud.
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures and patterns.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and modern deployment practices.
• Excellent communication and ability to influence technical direction.
• Commitment to software quality through clean code and testing.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on delivering feature, security, scalability and resiliency enhancements to our Java/Scala codebase.
• Contribute to the design of new CIAM features and improvements.
• Work cross-functionally with other Nitro Engineering teams and stakeholders to advance the Nitro cloud product suite.

The Role:

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join the team responsible for customer identity and access management (CIAM), as well as the acquisition and renewal stages of the customer journey. The successful candidate will work closely with Business Stakeholders to grow product adoption and maximise revenue, while safeguarding how our customers authenticate at scale and improving the experience they have as they sign up, purchase, and manage product access and subscriptions across their organisation.

You willjoin the existing team andcollaborate on delivering feature, security,scalability andresiliencyenhancementsto our existingJava andScala code base.You will contribute tothe design of new features.You will work cross-functionally with otherNitro Engineering teamsand stakeholdersto supportthe excitingenhancements coming to the Nitro cloud product suite.

Whatwe’relooking for:

• Strong architectural thinking and ability to make strategic technical decisions that balance immediate needs with long-term sustainability
• Strong knowledge of, and professional development experience with a JVM based language, bonus points for Scala.
• Experience building SaaS products, particularly in the AWS cloud.
• Knowledge of event-driven concepts and architectures.
• Familiarity with continuousdevelopment and deployment practices.
• Ability to drive project delivery from early ideation through to production deployment.
• Commitment tosoftware qualitythrough clean code, testingand verification.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to influence technical direction across teams and articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
