Job description

Meet the Team

Cisco's Webex Engineering Group is redefining the future of collaboration. We’re building a world where people connect effortlessly to enjoy modern, uncompromised collaboration across every room, desk, pocket, and application.

Our technology powers industry-leading products like Webex Meetings, Webex Calling, and Webex Contact Center. As a member of our team, your work will shape experiences used by millions of people globally, enabling seamless collaboration regardless of device or location and empowering the hybrid working patterns of the future.

Our engineering teams are trusted to make the right decisions and are empowered to act on them. This is a friendly, energetic environment with a fast pace of delivery, working closely with co-located UX design and product management teams.

Your Impact

  • Design, build, and lead the technical direction of end-user features used by millions of people worldwide.

  • Own architectural decisions within your domain — defining, evolving, and clearly communicating scalable, maintainable designs aligned with broader platform strategy.

  • Break down complex product requirements into clear technical designs and executable work, guiding teams from concept through delivery.

  • Act as a technical leader and role model within the team, setting high standards for code quality, testing, reliability, and operational excellence.

  • Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers, supporting their technical growth through pairing, reviews, feedback, and knowledge sharing.

  • Partner closely with product managers and designers to influence roadmap decisions, balancing customer value, technical health, and long-term sustainability.

  • Listen to the customer and elevate their experience. CSAT, NPS, feedback, and metrics are their voice — drive investigations, identify root causes, and lead impactful improvements.

  • Optimise — champion effective use of AI tools across the team to improve productivity, accelerate delivery, and focus effort on the most complex engineering challenges.

  • Lead by example — bring curiosity, accountability, and positivity, helping foster a culture of ownership, learning, and collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in an analytical subject such as Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or Software Engineering.

  • Experience: 7+ years of professional software development experience, delivering high-quality, production-grade software in complex environments.

  • Technical Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading architecture and design discussions, influencing technical direction, and driving alignment across teams.

  • Engineering Excellence: Deep programming and system design expertise, with the ability to evaluate trade-offs and make sound technical decisions.

  • Problem Solving: Proven ability to lead a structured, scientific, and creative approach to solving complex technical and product challenges.

  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to engineers, product partners, and stakeholders at varying levels.

  • Quality Focus: A strong commitment to quality, including test strategy definition, code reviews, operational readiness, and continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Full stack development, in some or all of the following areas:

  • Languages: TypeScript/JavaScript, Java

  • UI Frameworks: React or Angular

  • Back-end: Java (Spring), RESTful APIs, WebSockets, distributed systems, and API design

  • Database: Postgres/AWS Aurora

  • Proven experience scaling systems to handle growing traffic, data volume, and user load, including horizontal scaling, caching, and load balancing.

  • Significant experience contributing to or owning system architecture for large-scale, customer-facing applications.

  • Strong experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, including contract testing and test automation in CI/CD pipelines.

  • Practical experience or strong interest in AI-assisted development, including hands-on use of LLM-based tools for design exploration, scaffolding, refactoring, test generation, debugging, and improving developer productivity — with strong ownership of validated, production-ready solutions.

  • Deep familiarity with Git, DevOps practices, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
