Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to strengthen analytics capabilities. You will lead development teams, design scalable software, and deploy AI-powered solutions.

Expect to build data pipelines with PySpark/SQL, advance CI/CD, and collaborate across engineering, QA, and architecture teams. You will work on data workflows, cloud-based platforms (Azure), and modern tech stacks, with opportunities to influence analytics strategy and platform sustainability.

Qualifications

• Software development experience.
• Experience with Python, Java/Scala, JSON, Web Services.
• Experience with SQL databases.
• Experience with distributed systems technologies like Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, Snowflake.
• Experience developing applications on at least one major cloud platform (Azure preferred).
• Preferred: Experience with Azure cloud services, including compute, networking, security, and resiliency concepts.
• Experience building PySpark data pipelines in Databricks.
• Hands-on IaC using Terraform and/or orchestration platforms such as AKS.
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
• Healthcare experience.

• Lead end-to-end software engineering activities, including requirements analysis, system design, development, testing, deployment, and application support.
• Design, develop, and deploy scalable, high-performance software applications and AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with emphasis on responsible use of AI.
• Build and optimize data workflows and pipelines using Python, PySpark, and SQL to process large-scale datasets efficiently.
• Research, evaluate, and deploy new tools, frameworks and patterns to build a sustainable Analytic platform.
• Advance DevOps practices by contributing to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring.
• Create prototypes, proof-of-concepts & design and code reviews.
• Collaborate with management, quality assurance, architecture, and other development teams.
• Write technical documentation and participate in production support.

We are now looking for an additional Senior Software Engineer to enhance our Software Engineering capacity to develop the analytics, analytic applications and analytic platforms in support of our business insights.

As a key member of the Analytics Engineering Team, you will be part of UnitedHealth Group's mission of helping people live healthier lives. You will work with other Software Engineers and Data Scientists along with subject matter experts to deliver code with high quality for our applications, products and services.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience in relationship databases (SQL)
• Experience in distributed systems technologies like Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, Snowflake
• Experience in developing applications on at least one major cloud platform (Azure preferred)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Azure cloud services, including compute, networking, security, and resiliency concepts
• Experience with building PySpark data pipelines in Databricks
• Hands-on or practical exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and/or orchestration platforms such as Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
• Healthcare experience
