Senior Social Worker

South Kildare West Wicklow Children's Disability Network Team (CDNT)

Permanent Contract – 35 hours per week

Location: Kildare Town

Senior Social Worker Practitioner Salary Scale – €61,440 – €79,126 DOE

The South Kildare West Wicklow CDNT operates a biopsychosocial model and adopts a Family‑Centred Approach. The Senior Social Worker will work as part of an inter‑disciplinary team to provide clinical supports to children aged 0‑18 years who present with complex needs associated with a disability and their families. The CDNT provides supports across South Kildare and West Wicklow. As a Senior on the team they will have leadership responsibilities within the team.

Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for managing and prioritising own caseload in the context of the overall service
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families with a disability where required
  • Determine the most appropriate social work methods and practices that would best enhance the quality of life of the person with a disability
  • Inform the individual with a disability and their family of their rights, entitlements, benefits and services
  • Act as an advocate for children and families with a disability where appropriate
  • Liaise with the Health Service Executive and relevant voluntary and statutory agencies in relation to the provision of personal and social services
  • Work as part of the inter‑disciplinary team and engage in collaborative goal setting as a team
  • Participate in case formulation meetings/case reviews as required
  • Contribute to the planning of the service priorities as required
  • Be fully aware of and compliant with current child protection and safeguarding legislation and local policies and procedures
Requirements
  • Possess a relevant Social Work qualification
  • Have 3 years full‑time (or an aggregate of 3 years full‑time) relevant post‑qualification experience
  • Must be registered with and maintain registration on the Social Worker Register maintained by the Social Work Registration Board at CORU
  • Demonstrate the ability to ensure a high standard of service is delivered
  • Demonstrate organisational and planning skills with effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience of working with children and families
  • Experience of working in disability services
  • Full clean driving licence and use of own car
