Job description

Leap29 is recruiting on behalf of a leading international engineering consultancy for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to support the design and engineering delivery of major pharmaceutical and biotechnology projects.

Working from the Dublin or Cork design office, you will join multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering large-scale Life Sciences capital projects, with a strong focus on engineering design, coordination and project execution.

This opportunity would particularly suit an experienced engineer from an EPCM or engineering consultancy environment who has progressed beyond purely discipline-specific design and is taking greater responsibility for multidisciplinary engineering coordination, design deliverables, project planning and client engagement.

You do not necessarily need to currently hold a Project Manager title. We are interested in senior engineering professionals who are already taking ownership of engineering packages, coordinating multiple disciplines and driving complex projects through the design and engineering lifecycle.

The Role

Working within a multidisciplinary EPCM environment, you will coordinate the engineering and design delivery of major pharmaceutical and biotechnology projects.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Managing engineering activities across Process, Mechanical, Electrical, CSA and Automation disciplines
• Coordinating multidisciplinary design deliverables throughout the engineering lifecycle
• Developing and managing project execution plans, engineering schedules and resource requirements
• Leading engineering and design coordination meetings
• Coordinating design inputs, outputs and project requirements
• Monitoring engineering progress, risks, actions and key deliverables
• Working closely with clients and key project stakeholders
• Coordinating with specialist engineering teams, vendors and project partners
• Supporting project controls including schedule, cost and change management
• Ensuring engineering deliverables meet project, quality and regulatory requirements
• Driving technical resolution across multidisciplinary design teams
• Supporting projects as they progress from engineering design into later project phases

About You

We are looking for an experienced engineering professional with a strong design and engineering background within the Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical or Life Sciences sector.

You may currently be working as a:

• Engineering Lead
• Senior Discipline Engineer with multidisciplinary responsibility

Ideally, you will have:

• An engineering degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Biomedical or a related discipline
• 10+ years' engineering experience within Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical or Life Sciences projects
• Strong experience working within an EPCM, engineering consultancy or design-office environment
• Proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering and design teams
• Experience delivering large-scale capital projects of €100m+
• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical engineering design and GMP environments
• Experience managing engineering deliverables, schedules, resources and project requirements
• Experience participating in and leading multidisciplinary design reviews
• Strong client and stakeholder management experience
• A strong understanding of the engineering and design lifecycle
• Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills

Design-office experience is particularly important for this position. Candidates whose experience has primarily focused on site construction delivery rather than engineering design are unlikely to be suitable.
