The Opportunity

We now seeking Senior Project Engineers to join our Connection Projects (Southern Region) team in our new Cork office. This is an exciting opportunity for a customer focused, resilient and motivated individual who is interested in working with the Connection Projects (Southern Region) team to deliver key infrastructure projects for some of the biggest companies in the world. These customers are critical to Ireland from many aspects including the achievement of our renewable targets and to continuation of sustainable economic growth for the country.

As Senior Project Engineer, your role will involve project managing a portfolio of customer projects, ensuring that appropriate project controls are in place with regard to budgets, schedule, quality, risk and activity monitoring. You will continuously review and develop procedures and documentation for quality and accuracy. You will possess strong competency in the following areas; written and verbal communications, working with people, analysing and problem solving, organising work and achieving objectives.

The Team

The Chief Infrastructure Office (CIO) within EirGrid comprises highly skilled professionals with backgrounds in engineering and business/commerce. The CIO is responsible for leading the development and delivery of the power system and interconnection investment programmes, in collaboration with partners, customers & communities.

The Connection Projects (Southern Region) team is responsible for the delivery of electricity generation, demand and interconnection customer connections to the transmission system. This includes the delivery of transmission works for power generation and demand customer connections at distribution voltage levels.

About you
  • Engineering degree or equivalent with a minimum of 4 years’ experience
  • Proven experience in managing large infrastructure projects, balancing a proficiency in project management with a developed understanding of power systems
  • Ability to work collaboratively with customers and stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Experience conceiving and introducing innovative ideas, solutions or new ways of doing things
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, while also being able to define and guide own work under minimal supervision
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to make decisions and recommendations in all aspects of project implementation
  • Full, clean drivers licence
