Job summary

Gentian Health LTD in Shannon is seeking a Senior Product Design Engineer to join the Design Engineering team developing bio-sensing wearables for medical devices. You will lead CAD-based design, material selection, prototyping, and verification, working with Industrial, Mechanical, Electronic and Quality engineers to deliver components from concept to launch while adhering to global standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 degree or higher in Product design or equivalent engineering discipline.
• 4+ years of experience in Product design engineering.
• Background in life sciences or medical devices an advantage.
• Strong CAD knowledge; SolidWorks preferred.
• Interest in Bio-sensing wearables design.
• Project management skills desirable.
• Interest in and experience of 3D printing.
• Good communication skills essential.
• Knowledge of international standards / regulations is desired.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop wearables housing and enclosures for electronic-based products.
• Incorporate human factors, ideation, rendering, prototyping, CAD, material selection and documentation.
• Lead design feasibility, requirement capturing, architecture, design, verification and validation.
• Prepare 2D/3D CAD drawings and specifications for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with Industrial, Mechanical, Electronic and Quality teams.
• Mentor and coach product design and mechanical teams.
• Present concepts to internal teams and external customers.
• Ensure regulatory compliance (UL, FDA, CE) throughout the process.
• Drive project plans including scope, schedule, cost, risk and resources.

Senior Product Design Engineer Job Description Sha nnon Based Gentian Health Ltd is looking for a highly talented Senior Product Design Engineer. The role is part of Gentian’s Design Engineering team which develops bio-sensing wearables devices for the medical device and health sectors.

• Include human factors, user focused design, ideation, concept development, rendering, prototyping, CAD, material selection and documentation.
• Participate in design feasibility, requirement capturing, architecture, design, implementation, integration, and verifications.
• Design of fabric and adhesive patch based wearable products.
• Design of housings and enclosures for electronic based products.
• Proof of concept design and prototyping.
• Prototype development and test.
• Designing plastics for injection moulding.
• Design finalization through to launch in manufacturing.
• Work in the development of sensor based wearable devices for the health sector.
• Work with cross functional teams such as Industrial design, Mechanical design, Electronic and Quality engineering.
• Evaluate and implement designs to ensure that all agency requirements (UL, FDA, CE, etc.) are being met throughout the process.
• 2d and 3d CAD drawing set development.
• Present Ideas to both internal team and external customers.
• Interact on customer facing projects.
• Provide mentoring and coaching to product design and mechanical team.
• Communicating project status by preparing standard status reports, and by participating in departmental and customer project status update meetings.
• Preparing Project Management Plans incorporating Scope, Schedule, Cost, Risk, Resources etc by using project management methodologies and by working with appropriate functions to understand effort needed.
• Directing project execution by assigning tasks, tracking project schedules, identifying risks, and developing and executing contingency plans.

Essential and Desirable Skills:

• Minimum Level 8 degree or higher in Product design or equivalent engineering discipline.
• 4+ years of experience in Product design engineering.
• Background in life sciences or medical devices an advantage.
• A strong knowledge of CAD. Solidworks preferred.
• Interest in Bio-sensing wearables design.
• Project management skills desirable.
• Interest in and experience of 3D printing.
• Good communication skills essential.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to demonstrate creative thinking to solution design.
• Detail orientated.
• Customer-facing experience is essential, as this position will be dealing directly with customers and/or partners.
