Job Title: Senior Process Engineer
Location: Athlone, Co. Westmeath
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Process Engineerto join a leading manufacturing organisation within a quality-driven production environment. This role involves providing hands-on technical support across the production floor, ensuring machinery and processes are correctly set up, production runs efficiently, and products consistently meet quality standards.
The position is ideal for an experienced manufacturing or process Engineer/Technician who is technically strong, practical, and confident supporting operators, troubleshooting equipment, and improving production processes.
Role Responsibilities:
- Carry out machine setups, changeovers, adjustments, and production start-ups in accordance with approved procedures.
- Complete first-off and in-process inspections to ensure products meet required specifications.
- Support new product setups, sample runs, production trials, and process introductions.
- Monitor production processes and make appropriate machine and process adjustments to maintain consistent output and quality.
- Provide hands-on technical support to operators and act as a key technical point of contact on the production floor.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, machine, and process-related issues, escalating complex problems to Engineering or Maintenance.
- Support Engineering with process trials, equipment improvements, process changes, and validation activities.
- Assist with root-cause investigations and corrective actions relating to production or quality issues.
- Deliver hands‑on training to operators covering machine operation, setup, changeovers, and process requirements.
- Support the onboarding and development of new production employees through technical coaching.
- Review work instructions, setup sheets, visual aids, and process documentation, providing feedback where required.
- Identify opportunities to improve machine performance, production efficiency, product quality, and operator safety.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping, and process reliability.
- Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams to ensure efficient manufacturing operations.
Role Requirements:
- 4+ years' experience in a manufacturing, production, process, or technical environment.
- Proven experience in machine setup, changeovers, process adjustment, and production troubleshooting.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and resolve machine and process issues.
- Experience carrying out first-off and in-process inspections.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Competent using measurement and inspection equipment.
- Previous experience training, mentoring, or supporting production operators.
- Experience within medical device, precision manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or another highly regulated environment would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of ISO 13485 and GMP requirements would be beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of production issues, and make sound technical decisions.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality, safety, and process reliability.
