Job summary

EFOR in Ireland is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join the multidiscipline project engineering team on site. You will bring design expertise in the Pharmaceutical/Biopharmaceutical sector and lead process-driven design activities across projects from concept to qualification.

Responsibilities include developing PFDs and P&IDs, drafting equipment specifications, interfacing with suppliers, and ensuring process safety compliance (ATEX, PED). Strong communication and initiative are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering required.
• Chartered engineer or working towards chartership preferred.

• Completion of Design Risk Assessments.
• Experience in design reviews and safety reviews.
• Interfacing with client design team and end users.
• Strong organisation, adaptability and communication skills.
• 10+ years design experience in pharma/biopharma.

Responsibilities

• Perform process calculations and develop PFDs and P&IDs.
• Prepare specifications for process equipment.
• Interface with supplier's engineers for bid analysis.
• Design process equipment, P&IDs, and utilities.
• Engage in client liaison and project meetings.
• Support design through commissioning and qualification.
• Ensure process safety compliance with ATEX, PED and directives.
• Participate in process hazard assessments/HAZOP studies.
• Approve and execute C&Q documentation.

Description

The Senior Process Engineer will be working as part of the multidiscipline project engineering team on site. Previous design experience in the Pharmaceutical/ Biotechnology industry is essential.

Responsibilities will include:

• Process calculations and development of PFDs and P&IDs (LM & SM)
• Preparation of specifications for process equipment.
• Interface with supplier's engineers to prepare technical bid analysis and recommendations.
• Design of process equipment, P&IDs, material & personnel flows, process utilities, waste streams.
• Client liaison, attendance at project meetings etc
• Design support and input to the Project / Construction team.
• The opportunity to work on a range of projects, from conceptual stage through to detailed design, commissioning and qualification.
• Generation, ownership and update of process-specific documents including specifications for all project stages (design, construction, C&Q, start-up, operation & maintenance).
• Responsible for the process safety aspects of project, including compliance with ATEX, PED and other relevant directives.
• Participation in Process Hazard Assessments/HAZOP studies.
• Approval and execution of C&Q documentation.

Education, Experience and Skills:

• Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering
• Ideally a chartered engineer or progressing towards chartership
• Completion of Design Risk Assessments
• Participation in Technical and Safety reviews
• Interfacing with client design team/end users
• Organised and adaptable with a flexible approach to Process/Project Engineering.
• At least 10 years design experience in the Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical sectors
• Ability to work on own initiative.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
