Location: Dublin, Ireland (Hybrid - Head Office & Remote)

Reports To: Purchasing Manager

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and commercially focused Senior Pharmacy Category Buyer to join our Head Office team. This is a key role within our growing Pharmacy Group, responsible for developing and managing product categories across our 10 pharmacies and thriving e-commerce store.

The ideal candidate will bring both pharmacy knowledge and retail buying expertise, with a deep understanding of customer needs, product performance and supplier dynamics within the Irish pharmacy market.

Key Responsibilities
Category & Range Management
  • Develop and implement category strategies across key pharmacy product areas including OTC medicines, vitamins & supplements, skincare, beauty, and healthcare.
  • Analyse sales data and market trends to optimise product ranges, pricing, and promotions.
  • Identify new product opportunities and drive range innovation to support commercial growth.
Supplier & Commercial Management
  • Negotiate supplier agreements, trading terms, and promotional plans to deliver margin and sales targets.
  • Build strong partnerships with key suppliers, wholesalers, and brand owners.
  • Work with suppliers to plan seasonal activity, in-store promotions, and marketing campaigns.
Retail & Store Support
  • Collaborate with retail and operations teams to ensure effective in-store implementation of planograms, promotions, and product launches.
  • Ensure consistent execution of category standards across all stores.
Performance & Compliance
  • Monitor category performance, stock levels, and profitability through regular reporting.
Requirements
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in buying, category management, or retail commercial role, preferably in Pharmacy.
  • Demonstrable success in managing product ranges and negotiating supplier agreements.
  • Experience within an Irish pharmacy chain or retail healthcare setting.
  • Experience in dispensary buying an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong commercial and analytical mindset with excellent negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Pharmacy Head Office EPOS system.
  • Experience in Shopify an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Passion for healthcare retail and customer wellbeing.
