Job summary

POLL service in Portlaoise seeks a Senior Occupational Therapist (Psychiatry in Later Life) to deliver client-centered therapy to older adults with psychiatric illnesses in the community. You will assess, plan, and implement interventions to support recovery and daily functioning within a multidisciplinary team and ensure high-quality care aligned with standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Therapy required.
• Current CORU registration required.
• Experience with older adults in mental health or related field; seating experience preferred.
• Strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills required.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments (cognitive, physical, psychosocial).
• Develop individualized care plans based on client needs and goals.
• Deliver interventions to improve daily living, cognitive function and social engagement.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists and social workers for integrated care.
• Maintain accurate clinical records in line with standards and policies.
• Provide training to families/caregivers for home and community care.
• Participate in audits, CPD, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Supervise students or junior OTs as required.
