Job summary

Global Professional Consultants is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a Data Centre project with a leading Tier 1 main contractor in Amsterdam. The role reports to the Mechanical Project Manager and oversees a team of mechanical sub-contractors to deliver robust systems.

You will review designs, verify equipment sizes, manage submittals and procurement, and coordinate with BIM. The position emphasizes safety, documentation, and on-time delivery, with attractive salary and progression

Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
• 5+ years’ experience in a similar role.
• Experience on Data Centre projects would be beneficial.
• Strong IT skills, particularly AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work to strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Review mechanical designs to identify discrepancies and generate RFIs.
• Verify equipment sizes (ductwork, pipework) and provide recommendations.
• Oversee submittals, manage procurement delivery, and verify receipt on delivery.
• Perform mechanical system walk-downs to ensure IMS and specs compliance.
• Coordinate mechanical services with other disciplines and the BIM team for safe sequencing.
• Provide technical guidance to subcontractors and ensure site health and safety compliance.
• Develop method statements and risk assessments and maintain document control.

Senior Mechanical Engineer (Amsterdam)

Senior Mechanical Engineer required to join one of Europe’s leading Tier 1 Main Contractors on a Data Centre project in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will report into the Mechanical Project Manager and be responsible for the working with a team of Mechanical sub-contractors ensuring the successful delivery of Mechanical systems.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive reviews of mechanical designs to identify discrepancies in specifications and IFC drawings, and generate detailed RFIs to clarify potential issues.
• Verify equipment sizes (ductwork, pipework, etc.), provide recommendations as necessary, and apply troubleshooting techniques to identify and correct problems.
• Oversee submittals, manage the approval process, track procurement and delivery of electrical equipment, and verify receipt upon delivery.
• Perform mechanical system walk-downs to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and the company Integrated Management System.
• Coordinate and manage mechanical services with other disciplines and the project BIM team, ensuring efficient and safe sequencing of installations.
• Provide technical guidance to subcontracted staff, ensuring compliance with site and project requirements, including health and safety obligations, in collaboration with the construction team.
• Develop method statements and risk assessments for construction activities, and maintain up-to-date document control for effective log management.

Requirements:

• Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
• 5+ Years’ experience in a similar role.
• Experience working on Data Centre projects would be beneficial.
• Good IT skills, particularly in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Packages.
• Ability to work to strict deadlines.
