Job summary

LGC is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Engineer in Ireland to lead scale-up, validation, and capital projects across a regulated medical device manufacturing environment. You will manage CAPEX, automation, and process improvements from concept through rollout while ensuring compliance with quality systems.

The role requires extensive experience in validated manufacturing settings, strong project leadership, and collaboration with Operations, Quality, and Finance to deliver reliable, compliant

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Chemical, Mechanical, Biomedical, or related) or equivalent experience.
• Typically, more than 10 years of experience in controlled manufacturing settings (IVD, diagnostics, Pharma, or medical devices preferred).
• Proven background leading extensive manufacturing, scale-up, validation, and operational excellence in regulated settings.
• Strong knowledge of automation, equipment integration, and control systems, with project cost and budget management experience.
• Experience with commissioning and qualification criteria (IQ/OQ/PQ) and compliant documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing scale-up, capacity increase, and projects to improve operational efficiency.
• Manage full lifecycle CAPEX, equipment, and automation projects with budgeting and validation.
• Provide senior-level validation leadership across the project lifecycle (IQ/OQ/PQ, protocols, deviations).
• Support introduction of new products, methods, technologies, and equipment into QC manufacturing.
• Ensure activities align with IVD, ISO 13485, GMP, and Quality Management Systems.
