Job summary

Optum in Ireland is seeking a Senior Manager Data Science to lead a multidisciplinary team delivering pricing analytics for a large-scale enterprise pricing platform.

You will guide solution design, platform integration, and production delivery, ensuring scalable, reliable pricing solutions while aligning with business objectives across Ireland and the U.S. The role offers hybrid work between Dublin/Letterkenny and home-based offices.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree required in a quantitative field such as Analytics/Data Science/Finance/Economics/Math/related.
• Proven leadership of cross-functional technical teams delivering enterprise-scale systems.
• Proven programming in Python and SQL.
• Experience in people management.
• Strong data analysis and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience delivering data science solutions and financial models in Agile environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of data scientists, analysts, and engineers to integrate pricing models into the pricing platform.

You'll work on a mature, enterprise-scale product that supports pricing decisions for more than 1.5 billion pharmacy claims annually, combining advanced analytics, software engineering, and business strategy to solve complex healthcare challenges. As a Senior Manager Data Science, you will lead a team of data scientists, analysts, and engineers responsible for integrating pricing capabilities into our enterprise pricing platform. You will provide technical leadership across solution design, platform integration, and production delivery, ensuring pricing solutions are scalable, reliable, and aligned with business objectives.

Drawing on your leadership experience, technical expertise in Python and SQL, and ability to work across business and technology teams, you will help shape the evolution of the platform while developing a high-performing team. You will partner closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders across Ireland and the U.S. to deliver innovative solutions that drive measurable business impact.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of developers and data scientists in integrating pricing models into the pricing platform, increasing the volume of pricing supported
• Guide technical design decisions and integration patterns across the platform
• Leverage technical analytical expertise and data analytics infrastructure across the enterprise to architect, deploy, and oversee integrated analytics/business technology solutions
• Manage and allocate resources effectively to meet program deadlines and business objectives
• Act as a thought leader and coach in applying pricing platform integration practices, modern software engineering principles, and emerging technologies
• Partner with business, product, and engineering leaders to define priorities, deliver pricing capabilities, and translate business strategy into technical execution
• Identify opportunities for new pricing and technical strategies and influence related management decisions
• Monitor industry trends and advancements in data science to ensure the team's practices remain current, competitive, and effective
• Drive continuous improvement in standards, quality, and delivery practices
• Engage with internal business and system delivery practices
• Ensure priorities for the data science team remain aligned with organizational goals
• Communicate plans, designs, analytic results, and predictive models clearly to business partners

Required Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree in Advanced Analytics, Data Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field
• Proven experience leading cross-functional technical teams delivering enterprise-scale production systems
• Demonstrated experience programming in Python and SQL
• Proven experience in a people management capacity
• Demonstrated experience in data analysis and problem-solving
• Proven experience delivering data science solutions and financial models
• Proven experience working within Agile software delivery environments

Preferred Qualifications:

• MSc or PhD in Advanced Analytics, Data Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field
• Proven experience building or supporting enterprise decision-making, optimization, or pricing platforms
• Proven experience within the Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) industry
