Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a Network Architect to lead the design and delivery of the global network infrastructure. You will collaborate with engineering, security, and operations teams to translate concepts into production-ready solutions while mentoring junior staff.

The role emphasizes shaping the network modernization roadmap, enhancing performance, availability, and cost efficiency across data centers and cloud integrations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or equivalent technical degree in engineering or Computer Science.
• 15+ years designing IP networks and services including DNS, time services, security and data center strategies.
• 10+ years with routing protocols (BGP/OSPF/EIGRP) and SD-WAN.
• 10+ years with Layer 2 and WAN/LAN transport technologies and data center fabrics.
• 10+ years knowledge of security tech including IPsec, SSH, RADIUS, VPNs and TrustSec.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement Northern Trust's global network and services.
• Lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and coordinate with infra teams for production readiness.
• Develop toolings and strategies to increase performance, availability, and cost efficiency.
• Address on-call escalations and ensure high availability across regions.
• Collaborate with application teams and stakeholders to translate concepts into physical designs.
