Job summary

OpenText, The Information Company, is hiring a Senior Network Engineer (Firewall) in Cork, Ireland. You will secure, operate, and evolve enterprise networks across on‑premises and cloud environments, with a strong focus on firewall technologies and secure connectivity.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years hands-on enterprise firewall administration experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or equivalent.
• Excellent English communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• SME-level expertise in at least one firewall platform such as Check Point, Palo Alto, Fortinet or Cisco Firepower.
• Strong experience configuring and troubleshooting IPSEC VPNs.
• Experience in large-scale enterprise network environments.
• Solid networking fundamentals: IP addressing, routing, switching, VPNs, DNS.

Responsibilities

• Operate as a senior firewall SME within a global team delivering secure services across large on‑prem and cloud environments.
• Implement and manage enterprise firewall policies and IPSEC VPNs to ensure secure connectivity.
• Own day-to-day firewall changes via ticketing systems and SLAs with accurate, secure execution.
• Lead Tier 3/4 incident response, driving root-cause analysis to restore services quickly.
• Contribute to firewall refresh, migration, and upgrade projects across design, plan, and validation.
• Collaborate with application, cloud, and security teams to deliver scalable, defence‑in‑depth security solutions.
• Automate firewall operations using APIs, scripting, IaC, and AI-assisted tools.
