Job summary

BenchMark Recruitment is recruiting a Senior Financial Accountant to lead a small finance team within a forward-looking company in Ireland. You will manage day-to-day accounting, oversee AP/AR, bank reconciliations and payroll, and report to the Financial Controller.

You will drive month-end and year-end closings, prepare statutory financial statements, and coordinate with internal and external auditors. Strong Excel and ERP experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and ability to work independently.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and IT skills.
• Familiarity with ERP systems; SAP advantageous.
• Experience in financial accounting functions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting—AP, AR and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare month-end and year-end closes.
• Produce monthly analysis and reports for senior operations management.
• Draft statutory financial statements for the current year.
• Oversee payroll function.
• Plan and supervise the Finance Department staff.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors.
• Handle ad-hoc projects.

About the job Senior Financial Accountant

BenchMark Recruitment have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Financial Accountant, to join a smart and forward focused organisation who are a leader in their Industry. This role will work within a medium size Finance Function where you will manage a small team report directly into the Financial controller.

The Role:

• Oversee day-to-day financial accounting functions – AP, AR and Bank Recs
• Preparation of month-end and year-end accounts
• Prepare monthly analysis and reports for Snr Ops Mgt
• Preparation statutory financial statements for current year.
• Overseeing the payroll function.
• Plan, organise, manage, and supervise the work and staff of the Finance Department.
• Liaise with the internal and external auditors on audit matters.
• Other ad-hoc projects

Requirements:

• Strong communicator and ability to work on your own initiative
• Well-developed IT skills, familiarity with enterprise management systems and advanced experience using Microsoft Excel.
• Good working knowledge of accounting software packages - SAP advantageous
