Job summary

Fehily Timoney and Company (FT) is recruiting a Senior Engineer (Water) to join the Sustainable Infrastructure team, with offices in Cork, Carlow or Dublin. The candidate must be a Chartered Engineer or in the process of achieving Chartered status, with at least 7 years' experience delivering drainage networks for highways, active travel, greenways and urban development.

The role requires the ability to directly manage clients and stakeholders and coordinate with multi-disciplinary designers,

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 7 years post-graduate experience in Civil Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer status, or be in the process of achieving Chartered status.
  • Experience in design of highway drainage systems including SuDs.
  • Experience in potable water and waste water networks and pump stations.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of civil design software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead drainage designs for highways, active travel, greenway, renewable energy and urban development projects.
  • Design drainage networks, ponds, attenuation and SuDs.
  • Design potable water and waste water networks and pump stations.
  • Lead hydrological and flood risk assessments for various sites.
  • Prepare technical reports and designs to support hydrology and drainage design and environmental impact assessments.
  • Coordinate CAD documentation with CAD Technicians and other engineers.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff within the Infrastructure sector.
  • Attend onsite client meetings and ensure projects meet timescales, quality, and costs.

Job description

Fehily Timoney and Company (FT) is one of Ireland’s largest Irish owned consultants with centres of excellence in Civil Infrastructure, Waste & Resource Management and Renewables. FT provides design and contract management services for the construction of infrastructure projects such as roads, greenways, bridgeworks, rail, solid waste facilities, renewable energy, drainage, water and wastewater treatment facilities, airports, tunnels and gas pipelines.

FT is seeking to recruit a Senior Engineer (Water) to join our Sustainable Infrastructure team in our Cork, Carlow or Dublin Offices.

The successful candidate will be a Chartered Engineer, or in the process of achieving Chartered status, and be experienced in the delivery of drainage networks for highway, active travel and/or greenway and urban development projects through the planning and design phases.

The successful candidate will have the ability to directly manage clients and stakeholders, and be capable of coordinating with multi-disciplinary designers on infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to lead the delivery on a number of our infrastructure, urban development and renewable energy projects.

The post will suit candidates with at least 7 years of experience keen to apply their professional skills and gain experience in a busy and dynamic multi-disciplinary engineering practice.

Responsibilities
  • Leading the delivery of drainage designs for infrastructure projects including highways, active travel, greenway, renewable energy and urban development projects
  • Design of drainage networks, ponds, attenuation and SuDs.
  • Design of potable water and waste water networks and pump stations
  • Lead the hydrological and flood risk assessment for various sites.
  • Preparing technical reports and designs to support hydrology and drainage design and environmental impact assessments.
  • Working knowledge of modelling software such as InfoDrainage, Micro Drainage, Causeway Flow and/or Autodesk Storm and Sewer.
  • Planning and managing CAD documentation, working closely with CAD Technicians
  • Working closely with other Engineers, Ecologists and Scientists within the Company
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff within the Infrastructure sector
  • Preparation of technical reports, tender and proposal documentsAttend onsite meetings with the client and other professionals
  • Ensure projects are delivered to the timescales, quality and costs agreed with the client
  • Ensure compliance with our Quality Assurance and Management Systems
  • Ensure compliance with the relevant Health and Safety legislation
Qualifications
  • Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 7 years post-graduate experience in Civil Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer status, or be in the process of achieving Chartered status
  • Experienced in the design of highway drainage systems including SuDs. Experience in Nature Based Solutions is a plus.
  • Experience in potable water and waste water networks and pump stations a plus
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus
  • Working knowledge of civil design software
  • Experience working in a Consulting Engineering or similar company
  • Excellent communication, management, analytical and organisational skills required
  • Experience working and co‑ordinating with technical specialists and engineers
  • Efficient work methods, functioning both as part of team and on own initiative
  • Experience organizing and delivering complex tasks involving multiple parties within a short timeframe
  • The ability to adopt and work to new procedures and systems quickly.
  • Must be prepared to travel to site visits and client meetings
  • Full Drivers Licence
