Job summary

AtkinsRéalis, a leading engineering consultancy, seeks a Senior Engineer to lead planning and design of transport projects in Ireland, based in Dublin or Dundalk. The role requires delivering road, rail, public transport and active travel schemes, and involvement in statutory and procurement processes.

Ideal candidates will have a degree in engineering, Chartered status or near to it, and hands-on experience with design software.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree (Level 8/9) with Chartered Engineer or close to Chartership.
• Relevant consultancy/construction experience in transport planning and design.
• Strong knowledge of transport design standards and ability to translate into buildable designs.

Responsibilities

• Manage planning and design of road, rail, public transport and active travel projects across Ireland.
• Contribute to statutory processes (EIAR, CPO) and procurement processes.
• Prepare contract documents and administer contracts; supervise construction and manage commercial aspects.
• Lead design teams and develop client relationships; support tender proposals and bids.

Job Description Overview AtkinsRéalis one of the world’s leading providers of engineering professional consulting and support services with offices across Ireland. We are seeking a Senior Engineer with relevant experience in planning and design of transport projects. The candidate will join our growing Transportation business and will be based in our Dublin or Dundalk office. The candidate should be self-motivated, enthusiastic, hard working, flexible, willing to take on responsibility and comfortable working as part of a team.

Your role

The role will involve the management planning and design of road, rail, public transport and active travel projects throughout Ireland, input to statutory processes (EIAR, CPO etc), procurement processes, preparation of contract documents, contract administration construction supervision and commercial management.

About you

Relevant experience in a consultancy and/or construction environment. Educated to degree level in engineering (Level 8/9). Chartered Engineer, or close to attaining Chartership. Computer literate and with experience of relevant design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRoads etc desirable but not mandatory). Strong knowledge of relevant design standard and ability to translate this knowledge into practical, buildable and value for money designs. Experience in the management, planning and design of transportation schemes (preferably in Ireland) including feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design, statutory processes, preparation of contract documents, contact administration, construction supervision and commercial management. Ability to lead and manage design teams. A willingness to develop and build client relationships. Experience in the development of tender proposals, leading bids and winning new commissions. Personal Qualities Excellent inter-personal, written and verbal communication skills. Flexible approach with ability to be able to multi-task and prioritise as required. Positive outlook and approachable manner. Highly motivated to achieve personal and company goals. High level of integrity and commitment to uphold organisational values. Able to work as part of a team or individually as required.
