Job summary

AECOM in Ireland is seeking a driven Senior Civil Engineer to lead transport projects across roads, public transport, and greenways. The role offers mentorship toward Chartered Engineer status within a supportive, hybrid-working environment.

You will manage design packages, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and engage with clients and authorities to navigate approvals and design standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or similar.
• Candidates who demonstrate commitment toward Chartership in the near future or have submitted applications are encouraged.
• Post-graduate experience in civil engineering, highways, public transport and greenways, NEC contracts and related management.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead design packages on a diverse range of projects from concept to construction.
• Oversee major highways, rail, and light rail projects and bus infrastructure.
• Lead Greenway/active travel projects to relevant standards (DMRB, Cycle by Design, DMURS).
• Deliver high-quality deliverables within time and budget constraints.
• Work with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders through statutory approvals (NIR, ROI planning, EIA).
• Mentor apprentices and contribute to training and growth.

Your Role & Responsibilities

You will:

• Manage& leaddesign packages on a diverse range of projects from concept to construction stage, including:
• Major highways,rail, and light railprojects
• Bus infrastructure projects (to LTN 1/24, NTA standards)
• Greenway/active travel projects (toTII PMGs/Cycling by Design/TIIstandards).
• Know and apply UK and/or Irish design standards including(the UK & Irish DMRB, Cycle by Design,DMURS, Cycle Design Manual)to create safe, people-focused transport solutions.
• Deliver high quality deliverables and service to our clients, meeting our quality standards and their expectations within time and budget constraints.
• Work seamlessly within a multidisciplinary team, seamlessly collaborating with technicians,engineersand specialists in other disciplines (e.g., drainage, structures, environmental).
• Work directly with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders, guiding them through technical challenges and relevant statutory approval processes (Northern Ireland Roads Order,Republic of IrelandPlanning Permission, Environmental Impact Assessment).

• Candidates whodemonstratetheir commitment and progression toward Chartership invery nearfuture, already have their applicationsubmitted, or are close to the point of submission.
• Post-graduate experience in relevant areas such as civil engineering, highways, public transport and greenways, NECcontractsand other Contract Managementexperience
• Knowledge and experience in the relevant design standards in the UK and Ireland applicable to our projects (e.g. the DMRB, DMURS, LTN 1/20, LTN 1/24, NTA Cycle Design Manual)
• Knowledge of contract documentation for major transport projects, including typical forms of contract (NEC/Public Works Contract) and associated Specifications to MCHW/MCRW.
• Knowledge of statutory planning and design approvals in the UK and/or Ireland(EIA / NIS / CPO andassociated planning processes)
• Experience in working within teams of varying sizes and capabilities to deliver work packages to a high quality.
