Job summary

Analog Devices, Inc. in Ireland seeks a Senior Engineer, Embedded Software, to contribute to the development of embedded software for ADEF & COMMS. You will play a senior role in real-time embedded systems for high-speed data converters and ASICs, ensuring security, reliability, and performance.

You will collaborate with Silicon Designers and QA teams, design driver interfaces, and drive software quality through CI and automated tests, while mentoring junior engineers in a fast-growing group.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years designing, developing and launching high performance, high-reliability real time embedded systems.
  • Strong C/C++ development and debug skills.
  • Experience developing customer-facing C/C++ APIs and SDKs.
  • Experience with hardware abstraction layers (HAL) and register-level device control.
  • Strong knowledge of ARM Cortex architectures.
  • Experience in real time embedded systems, both bare metal and RTOS.
  • Proficiency with Git and code review processes.
  • Experience with continuous integration/automated testing.
  • Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing techniques.
  • Experience with JESD204B/C interfaces.
  • RF/mixed-signal systems and FPGA integration.
  • Python scripting for test automation.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high performance real-time embedded applications on ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers in C programming language.
  • Develop customer facing device drivers in C and C# that present a programming interface to Analog Devices products.
  • Interact daily with distributed teams to develop software, resolve bugs, and capture requirements.
  • Create documentation to support embedded firmware design and communicate concepts.
  • Participate in code reviews and improve software standards.
  • Develop and execute unit and integration test plans.
  • Develop and review tools used for testing and interfacing with the product.
  • Analyze test results and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide customer support during Beta trials and post-release.
  • Develop customer facing documentation and training material as required.
  • Comply with licensing, code origin control and documentation; mentor juniors.

About the Role

As Senior Engineer, Embedded Software, you will contribute to the development of embedded software for Analog Devices' ADEF & COMMS business unit. You'll have a senior role in the development of cutting-edge embedded systems that drive the most advanced data converters and communication ASICs, meeting the highest standards for security, reliability, and real time performance. You will be part of a fast growing, world-class engineering team working to deliver software solutions that extend the device portfolio functionality and solve the hardest of customers’ problems. You will be a strong team player with excellent communications and technical skills.

What You'll Do
  • Design and develop high performance real-time embedded applications on ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers in C programming language
  • Develop customer facing device drivers in C and C# that present a programming interface to Analog Devices high speed converters and COMM products
  • Interact daily with geographically distributed Silicon Designers, Embedded Software Engineers, Applications Engineers, QA Engineers and other team members to develop software, resolve bugs, identify missing requirements etc.
  • Create all necessary documentation to support the embedded firmware design and communicate the essential concepts inside and outside the development team
  • Participate in code reviews, software standard and guidelines improvement
  • Develop and execute software unit and integration test plans
  • Develop and review tools used for testing and interfacing with the product
  • Analyze test results to ensure correct functionality and implement corrective action
  • Provide customer support during Beta trials and post release
  • Develop customer facing documentation and training material as required
  • Comply with ADI licensing practices, code origin control and documentation
  • Mentor junior team members
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years designing, developing and launching high performance, high-reliability real time embedded systems

Travel: Up to 10%. Location: Cork or Limerick, Ireland.
