Job summary

Veolia is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer with Water/WasteWater experience to join our team in Ireland. You will produce detailed Electrical and Instrumentation designs for Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants and ensure work is delivered on time and within budget.

The role requires strong technical skills and effective communication with managers, engineers, suppliers and clients. Travel to site may be required to support design activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 7 or higher degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in an electrical design role.
• Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment industry.
• Highly organised, efficient and reliable.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong technical knowledge across electrical design disciplines.
• Team player with ability to lead and manage others.
• Customer focused and self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Produce electrical and instrumentation designs for water and wastewater plants.
• Coordinate with ESB, suppliers, clients and internal teams on design queries and approvals.
• Prepare electrical technical designs, submissions and panel diagrams (MCC, MDB, etc.).
• Develop automation hardware and system network architecture.
• Evaluate subcontractors and suppliers, prepare procurement specs and quotations.
• Mentor junior team members and liaise with other departments on electrical requirements.
• Update single line diagrams, panel schematics and wiring diagrams as needed.
• Create FAT documentation and participate in FAT sign-off.
• Ensure designs comply with Irish standards, EN, WIMES and IEC guidelines.
• Travel to site occasionally to support design activities and reviews.

Job Description

Overview of the role:

This role is an exciting opportunity for an Experience Senior Electrical Design Engineer with Water/WasteWater experience.

Produce detailed Electrical and Instrumentation designs for Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants. The role will have responsibility for ensuring that all work is efficiently and effectively managed and executed within defined constraints, such as time and budget, and with due diligence.

The role will require strong technical skills and communication and interaction with managers, engineers, internal and external team members, suppliers and clients.

Duties:

• Experience liaising with Electrical Supply Board (ESB)
• Design and selection of Instrumentation for Water and WasteWater process
• Evaluation of the client specifications from Industrial Clients and Municipal Clients
• Liaise with clients in relation to electrical design queries, submission approvals and specification compliance
• Preparation of Electrical Technical Designs & Submissions
• Design of electrical distribution and general services (lighting, fire and intruder alarms and containment systems)
• Design and development of Electrical Panels including schematic review (MCC, LCP, MDB etc)
• Development of automation hardware and system network architecture
• Evaluation and selection of sub-contractors and suppliers
• Preparation of procurement specifications and quotation evaluations
• Liaise with other departments i.e. design, contracts, control & automation etc and with equipment suppliers
• Provide advice to the mechanical designers on electrical requirements at the design stage
• Understanding and ability to update single line diagrams, panel schematics and wiring diagrams
• Preparation of Panel FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) documentation, FAT attendance and sign off
• Preparation of Control Philosophies
• Working to Irish Standards, European Norm, Water Industry Standards (WIMES) & IEC standards
• Travel to site occasionally as required to support design activities and to review construction progress or troubleshooting as necessary
• Provide Electrical Design expertise to the business
• Act as a mentor for more Junior members of the team

Qualifications

• Level 7 or Higher in Electrical Engineering
