Job summary

Dept is seeking a Senior Python Developer (Django, Wagtail) in Dublin with a hybrid work setup. You will lead backend development, design robust APIs, mentor peers, and shape system architecture across diverse client projects.

You will collaborate with front-end teams, designers, and external partners, ensuring high-quality deliverables and scalable solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years Python backend web development experience (agency or product environment preferred).
• Strong experience with Django.
• Experience with Wagtail CMS or similar CMS platforms is a plus.
• Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable APIs consumed by multiple third parties.
• Experience with complex system integrations across multiple external vendors.
• Experience with Git and modern development workflows.
• Solid understanding of database design, optimisation, and administration.
• Strong experience with testing and quality assurance (unit, integration, etc.).
• Ability to own projects end-to-end, from planning through to delivery and support.
• Experience identifying issues early and proactively suggesting improvements to internal processes and workflows.
• Confidence to challenge assumptions, contribute to technical discussions, and collaborate with external teams and vendors.
• Experience mentoring junior and mid-level developers, providing guidance, code reviews, and technical leadership across projects.
• A team-player mindset with strong initiative and leadership qualities.
• Working proficiency in English.
