Job summary

Planet is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and evolve our data platform, focusing on Fivetran, Snowflake and dbt. You will architect scalable data pipelines, data models, and trusted data products powering analytics, AI, and operations across the organisation.

You will collaborate with Data Engineers, Analysts and AI Engineers, drive governance, standards, and mentoring, while ensuring data accuracy, security, and cost efficiency in a hybrid, Dublin/ Galway–based setup.

Qualifications

• Experience with modern data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, BigQuery).
• Extensive experience building and operating ELT/ETL pipelines in production.
• Advanced SQL skills for large datasets analysis and transformation.
• Hands-on data ingestion using Fivetran and API-based patterns.
• dbt for transformation, testing, documentation and modelling.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise scalable data pipelines using ELT tools and APIs.
• Lead ingestion of new data sources into Snowflake with reusable patterns.
• Design ETL/ELT processes for large-scale analytics and AI workloads.
• Define ingestion patterns (incremental, CDC, full refresh, near real-time).
• Operate reverse ETL to deliver trusted data products to systems and apps.
• Improve platform reliability, performance, observability and cost.
• Design dbt transformation frameworks and dimensional models.
