Job summary

Abbott Diabetes Care in Donegal is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead data initiatives for manufacturing, quality and operations. You will build reliable data pipelines using Oracle PL/SQL and AWS services, and mentor a team to raise engineering standards in a regulated site.

You’ll enable visibility into WIP, equipment health and quality trends, partnering with Operations, Quality and IT to deliver compliant, scalable data solutions for a next-generation manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience with Oracle, strong PL/SQL, and data warehousing.
• Cloud data solutions on AWS (S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda) and Databricks.
• Background in manufacturing, medical devices, semiconductor, or regulated environments.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor data engineering teams.
• Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement.
• Experience with ETL design, performance tuning, and operational support.

• Design and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Oracle PL/SQL and AWS data services.

Senior Data Engineer

This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader with strong Oracle PL/SQL expertise and modern AWS cloud experience.

• Proven ability to lead and mentor data engineering teams.
• Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement.
• Experience with ETL design, performance tuning, and operational support.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Kafka or event-driven architectures.
• Exposure to MES/SCADA or factory data systems.
• Python for data engineering automation.
