Job summary

Deep Digital are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer in Ireland to lead the design, implementation and optimization of data historian solutions and data integration across control systems and third‑party apps.

You will mentor junior engineers, oversee performance improvements, and ensure robust security and compliance while coordinating with cross‑functional teams in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, information technology or related field.
• 3–5 years hands-on experience leading projects involving data integration and historian systems (AV.EVA PI, IP.21, Inmation, Ignition, Kepware).
• Deep knowledge of data integration and historian system architecture is required.
• Strong understanding of industrial processes and automation systems is essential.
• Experience with data contextualisation, visualization and reporting tools.
• Proficiency in scripting (e.g., PowerShell) for automation tasks.
• Experience mentoring and leading technical teams.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of data historian solutions.
• Lead efforts to integrate historian systems with control systems and third‑party applications.
• Conduct performance analysis and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
• Design and configure complex data tags to meet project requirements.
• Develop custom interfaces and connectors to enhance data integration capabilities.
• Develop and implement advanced security measures to protect historical data.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and lead audits/assessments.
• Investigate and resolve complex data collection, storage and retrieval issues.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations, installations and troubleshooting procedures.
